Photocaged oligonucleotides allow for the spatial temporal control of biological processes. In their caged form, the oligonucleotides are unable to participate in base pairing. It is only after exposure to non-invasive light that the native oligonucleotide is released. DEACM-dG is a convenient way to introduce a photocage at specific positions, and the DEACM is an effective photocleavable group.

Usage
Coupling: 3 minute coupling time recommended.
Deprotection: If UltraMILD reagents are used, deprotect in 0.05M Potassium Carbonate in Methanol overnight at Room Temperature. If standard bases are used, deprotect in Ammonium Hydroxide at Room Temperature overnight (dmf-dG required) or 30% ammonia/40% methylamine 1:1 (AMA) at Room Temperature for 2 hours (Ac-dC required). Heat should be avoided, both during deprotection and processing.
